4 Top tips for quick online presentation.

Have you found yourself watching more media lately? ‘How to short’ videos on the net? Useful aren’t they?

I don’t know about you but short demo videos and tutorials can be great and informative. Whether you are learning a new piece of software, website tutorial or maybe just a useful DIY tool instruction.

Why not create a quick online presentation? For your business? For your department? For your product?

You may already have one handy (or prepared earlier!) and create a screen presentation.

Have you seen this?

Cute? There's more cool things at Pinterest. I've only had time to look at it briefly and haven't really figured out how I can use this.

Partly because I am on this damn computer too much anyway! According to the website "Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes and organize their favorite recipes.

Is RSS a job seekers most useful tool.

Searching for job vacancies isn’t especially easy if you are currently in a role. Calls from job agencies with all sorts of different positions can be distracting. One of things that can be made to work for you is a simple tool called RSS or Really Simple Syndication!

What is RSS. According to wikipedia..

RSS(originally RDF Site Summary, often dubbed Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or

Working with Team Executive

Had a great meeting with the Team Executive group last week. It’s a sub-group of Team. Team is an independent network of some large but mostly small to medium sized recruitment consultancies. Alexander Chase joined Team early into its’ life because I’d had previous experience of how valuable some of the relationships and knowledge sharing could be.

The Executive ‘group’ is new but it’s really starting to build momentum. There is an energy brought to the group that is already translating into results.

New client business

I really enjoy it in recruitment when you get hold of a new client. I recruit across different parts of the UK for both Alexander Chase and our new IT Recruiter Your Cloud Resource so it was nice to pick up an exciting new role with a strong technology pr firm.

I've known of this client from previous experience so it was good to get our terms agreed and start work on something fresh. They are now looking for strong PR and Marketing Account Manager for their offices in Surrey. It sounds like the role will be a mixture of media management, client management and social media.

CVs usually come in all shapes and sizes! here's a few simple do nots!

1.     Use the word ‘employment’ – ‘yuck’ it sounds very ‘job centre’

3.     Overpagination – reduce number of fonts and sub-titles

4.      Over use italics – it just weakens the message

5.     Dates that are not easy to follow – hiding something?

6.     Include a full web link – either shorten it or properly ‘add link’

7.     PDF – why?

5 things the government could do today to help the recovery.

1. Champion enterprise

It is not rude to make a profit. Politicians need to be more ‘pro-business’

2. Lend to SMEs

Why is there a massive disconnect between what we hear from the chiefs of banks and what SME MDs say is going on ‘on the ground.’ They can’t both be right.

3. Cut corporation tax significantly for smes to promote growth.

4. Support business. Business Links have gone, Regional Development Agencies gone… Chambers minding their own business. Where is the damn support?

10 reasons why we might be over the worst

The last few years have seen a tough trading environment for many. Although I hope I'm not tempting fate these are 10 reasons why I think we are over the worst.

1. Banker bashing seems to be very old skool now and there was a ground swell of opinion last week telling us to stop bashing business. Love it.

2. Merkozy 'seem' to be maneuveringthrough the worst of the Euro 'chop'

3. Interest rates are still remarkably low - Low mortgage payments yippee

4. Even if we 'double-dip' this quarter. The only way is up right...?

5. Chance we might get a full Tory mandate in a couple of years.
